Author L.A. Harris was born and raised in the Appalachian mountains of Southwest Virginia with detours through Durham, North Carolina and Baltimore, Maryland. Her fiction has been selected as a finalist for the 2020 Lamar York Prize for Fiction, awarded by The Chattahoochee Review, a finalist for the American Fiction Short Story Award, appearing in the American Fiction Volume 17 anthology (New Rivers Press), and an honorable mention for the 2025 Barthelme Prize, awarded by the Gulf Coast Journal. She currently lives in Denver, Colorado and is working on the completion of her first novel.
